The Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced the allocation of portfolios in Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s newly formed Cabinet, with the Chief Minister retaining control of several high-profile departments including Home, Police and key welfare sectors.
According to the official notification, Vijay will oversee Public Administration, General Administration, Home Affairs, Police, Municipal Administration, Urban Water Supply and Special Programme Implementation. He will also handle Women Welfare, Youth Welfare, Child Welfare and departments related to senior citizens and differently-abled persons.
The portfolio distribution reflects the Chief Minister’s direct control over governance, law and order, and social welfare initiatives in the state administration.
Sengottaiyan Gets Finance
Senior leader KA Sengottaiyan has been entrusted with the Finance department along with Pensions and Pension Allowances, placing him in charge of the state’s financial planning and expenditure management.
Industries Assigned To Keerthana
One of the youngest faces in the Cabinet, Selvi S Keerthana, has been given the Industries and Investment Promotion portfolios, marking her as a prominent member of the new administration.
Anand To Lead Rural Development
N Anand will head Rural Development and Water Resources, including Panchayats, Poverty Alleviation Programmes and irrigation-related projects across the state.
Public Works And Sports To Aadhav Arjuna
Aadhav Arjuna has been allotted the Public Works and Sports Development departments. His responsibilities include highways, government buildings, minor ports and sports infrastructure development.
Other Major Portfolios
Dr KG Arunraj has been assigned Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare, while P Venkataramanan will oversee Food and Civil Supplies along with Consumer Protection and Price Control.
R Nirmalkumar has been given charge of Energy Resources and Law, covering electricity, renewable energy, courts, prisons, anti-corruption measures and legislative affairs.
Rajmohan will manage School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity, along with Culture, Archaeology and Film Regulation. Meanwhile, Dr TK Prabhu has been appointed Minister for Natural Resources, including Minerals and Mines.
