In a rare and unexpected diplomatic gesture, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) — the country’s largest political party and traditionally not aligned with New Delhi — has extended strong praise to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his public message wishing former Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia a speedy recovery.
PM Modi posted on X expressing concern over Khaleda Zia’s health and acknowledging her decades of contribution to Bangladesh’s public life. The message was warmly received by BNP leaders and supporters.

Ulfat said Modi’s outreach sends a positive signal for future India–Bangladesh relations.
