Prashant Kishor Breaks Silence on Bihar Poll Debacle, Says Vote Pattern ‘Didn’t Match Ground Reality’

Share:

Days after the Jan Suraaj Party suffered a sweeping defeat in the Bihar Assembly Elections, party founder Prashant Kishor has publicly spoken about the results for the first time. Kishor, who had remained unusually silent since the party failed to win even a single seat, claimed that the voting patterns in the election “did not match” the massive support he witnessed during his statewide Jan Suraaj Yatra.

Jan Suraaj contested 238 out of 243 constituencies but secured only 2–3% of the total vote share. Kishor said he found the results “surprising” and hinted at irregularities in the voting process. “Something definitely went wrong, but we have no evidence,” he told India Today, adding that “many things don’t match” the response he observed on the ground.

🔥 Allegations Against NDA

Kishor also accused the ruling NDA government of engaging in large-scale cash distribution, particularly targeting women voters. He alleged that thousands of women were given as much as ₹10,000 each, with promises of additional money after voting. He said he had “never seen” such a pattern of cash-based influence in any election before.

🔧 Jan Suraaj Party Dissolves Entire Organisation

Following the party’s poor performance, Jan Suraaj has dissolved all organisational units — from panchayat-level bodies to the state leadership. Senior leaders have now been reassigned across all 12 administrative divisions of Bihar to rebuild the structure from scratch.

A party statement said leaders will conduct a detailed review to understand the reasons for the defeat and identify individuals involved in indiscipline or internal sabotage.

The rebuilding exercise is expected to set the foundation for Jan Suraaj’s next phase in Bihar politics.
