Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line Faces 25-Minute Delays Due to Technical Glitch, BMRCL Issues Advisory

Bengaluru: Commuters on the Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line faced major disruptions on Saturday as services were delayed by nearly 25 minutes following a technical glitch. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed that the delays began around 10:15 a.m., urging passengers to cooperate while normal services are restored.

The Yellow Line, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra via Silk Board Junction, was inaugurated on August 11. Initially, only three trainsets were operational, running at 25-minute intervals. The frequency improved to 19 minutes in September after the deployment of a fourth trainset. The 19.15-km corridor has become a key route for commuters in South Bengaluru, carrying an average of 84,000 passengers daily, according to BMRCL Chief PRO B.L. Yashavanth Chavan.

Meanwhile, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has dispatched the fifth trainset for the Yellow Line from Bengal. All six coaches were shipped by Thursday night, with three coaches sent earlier in the week. Like its predecessor, this set is fully made in India and expected to enter passenger service by mid-October.

A senior BMRCL official revealed that the sixth trainset could arrive by early November, delayed slightly due to bogie certification issues. The seventh and eighth trainsets are currently undergoing fitment and are expected to further enhance metro frequency once deployed.

The arrival of additional trains is expected to reduce wait times, ease congestion, and enhance passenger comfort across the Yellow Line in the coming months.
