Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered the immediate closure of all transport check posts across the state, marking a major administrative move aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in road transport operations.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), all check posts located on state and national highways within Telangana are to be shut down without delay. The Transport Department has been instructed to redeploy the staff currently posted at these locations to other official duties.
The department has been asked to submit a detailed compliance report by 5 pm on Wednesday, outlining the closure process, staff reassignment, and the transfer of infrastructure.
🚗 Implementation Orders
Following the CM’s directive, the State Commissioner of Transport issued formal orders to district-level officials, instructing them to:
- Halt all ongoing check post operations immediately.
- Remove boards, barricades, and equipment from the sites.
- Shift all records, furniture, and electronic systems to the respective District Transport Offices (DTOs).
- Verify and preserve financial and administrative documents for future reference.
The initiative aims to eliminate redundant roadside checks and promote smoother vehicular movement throughout the state.
🛡️ CM’s Broader Law & Order Vision
The decision aligns with CM Revanth Reddy’s larger governance reforms focusing on transparency, police welfare, and modernization.
During the Police Commemoration Day event in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister lauded the Telangana Police for their role in reducing Maoist and terror activities, citing the India Justice Report 2025, which ranked Telangana’s police force first in the country.
Revanth Reddy also appealed to active Maoist cadres to surrender and join mainstream society, highlighting that Telangana has overcome years of insurgency through courage and discipline.
👮♂️ Police Welfare and Modernization
Revanth Reddy emphasized extensive welfare measures for law enforcement, including record-high ex-gratia payments—₹1 crore for constables up to ASI rank, ₹2 crore for IPS officers—and free education, jobs, and housing benefits for the families of fallen officers.
He announced the creation of a Cyber Security Bureau headed by a DGP-rank officer to tackle emerging cyber threats, and reaffirmed Telangana’s goal of becoming a “Drug-Free State” through the newly established Eagle Task Force.
The CM also praised the appointment of women IPS officers to leadership positions across key wings like CID, ACB, Vigilance, and the Police Academy, positioning Telangana as a model for inclusive policing.
🏛️ Administrative Efficiency at the Core
By ordering the closure of check posts, CM Revanth Reddy aims to further reduce red tape, streamline logistics, and reallocate manpower toward more productive roles in governance and law enforcement.
The move reflects the government’s commitment to digital governance, transparency, and service delivery efficiency, continuing Telangana’s trajectory as a state known for administrative innovation and law enforcement excellence.
