In a major push to modernise India’s railway network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate four new Vande Bharat Express trains during his visit to Varanasi on November 8.
The new semi-high-speed trains will operate on the following routes:
- Banaras–Khajuraho
- Lucknow–Saharanpur
- Firozpur–Delhi
- Ernakulam–Bengaluru
These services will significantly cut travel times and improve regional connectivity between key economic, cultural, and spiritual hubs across the country.
🚆 Banaras–Khajuraho Vande Bharat
This train will link important cultural and religious centres such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho, saving nearly 2 hours 40 minutes of journey time. The route is expected to give a major boost to religious and heritage tourism, especially to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho.
🚆 Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat
Covering central and western Uttar Pradesh, this service will complete its trip in 7 hours 45 minutes, cutting nearly an hour of travel time. Passing through Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Bijnor, and Saharanpur, it will also provide improved access to Haridwar via Roorkee, aiding both pilgrimage and regional economic activity.
🚆 Firozpur–Delhi Vande Bharat
Set to become the fastest train on the route, this service will complete the Firozpur–Delhi journey in just 6 hours 40 minutes. It connects Punjab’s trade hubs — including Bathinda and Patiala — with the national capital, strengthening business, employment, and tourism prospects in the border regions.
🚆 Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat
In southern India, the train will cut over two hours from the current travel time, completing the journey in 8 hours 40 minutes. It links Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, offering a faster and more comfortable commute for professionals, students, and tourists between major IT and industrial centres.
With these additions, the Vande Bharat network continues to reshape Indian rail travel with state-of-the-art design, improved safety systems, and passenger-centric comfort. The initiative underscores the government’s goal to make Indian Railways a world-class, efficient, and modern transport system connecting people and opportunities nationwide.
