Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised India’s Generation Z for their growing contribution to the country’s rapidly expanding space sector. His remarks came while virtually inaugurating Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad — a key milestone for India’s private space industry.

PM Modi: “Gen Z is building India’s space future”

The Prime Minister highlighted how young innovators embraced the opportunity after the government opened the space sector to private players.

“India’s youth puts the nation’s interest first… When we opened the space sector, Gen Z leapt forward. Today, over 300 Indian space start-ups are shaping the future of space,” he said.

He added that Gen Z engineers, coders, designers, and scientists are now developing breakthrough technologies in:

  • Propulsion systems
  • Composite materials
  • Rocket stages
  • Satellite platforms

PM Modi emphasized that Indian private space talent is gaining recognition globally and attracting significant international investment.

Youth Power in Focus Amid Political Context

Modi’s remarks come at a time when youth-led movements have been influencing political landscapes in neighbouring countries, such as Nepal.

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has also frequently urged Gen Z in India to stay vigilant about issues like electoral malpractice — adding a political undertone to youth-related discourse.

Skyroot: India’s Leading Private Space Innovator

Skyroot Aerospace, founded by IIT alumni and former ISRO engineers Pawan Chandana and Bharath Daka, remains at the forefront of India’s private space race.

Key achievements include:

  • Launching Vikram-S in November 2022
  • Becoming the first Indian private company to launch a rocket to space
  • Expanding operations with its state-of-the-art Infinity Campus

According to the PMO, Skyroot’s success reflects the capabilities of India’s young innovators who are entering fields previously unimaginable.

India’s growing startup ecosystem continues to show strong momentum, and with Gen Z leading innovation in the space sector, the government expects the industry to become a major global hub in the coming years.
