During the interaction, team members shared light-hearted moments with the Prime Minister. When cricketer Harleen Deol playfully asked PM Modi about his skincare routine, he responded with a smile, saying,
“It’s been 25 years as head of government… it’s the blessings of the people that keep me glowing.”
The informal yet heartwarming exchange left the players laughing, adding a personal touch to the celebratory meeting.
🏏 PM Modi Congratulates Team India
The Prime Minister praised Harmanpreet Kaur’s team for their resilience and determination, particularly after suffering three consecutive defeats earlier in the tournament.
“You all have done a very big job. In India, cricket is not just a game; it has become the life of the people. If everything goes well in cricket, the entire country feels good, but if there is anything wrong in cricket, the entire country shakes,” he said.
India clinched the Women’s World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, on November 5, 2025. The victory marked India’s first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup win, fulfilling a dream long awaited since their runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2017.
