Music composer Palash Muchhal has addressed the public for the first time after his wedding with Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana was officially called off. Both Palash and Smriti confirmed the development on Sunday, requesting privacy during this difficult phase.
In a detailed Instagram statement, Palash expressed deep disappointment over the “baseless rumours” circulating online, especially claims that he allegedly cheated during the pre-wedding events. He condemned the speculation and stressed that he was stepping back from the relationship to move forward with dignity.
Palash wrote, “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship.”
He further added that the hurtful rumours surrounding his private life have been extremely painful during a time that is already emotionally challenging.
Addressing the allegations directly, he said, “It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me.”
The music composer appealed to society to be more responsible before believing or spreading unverified gossip, saying, “Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”
Palash ended his statement with a firm warning, noting that his team will take strict legal action against those creating and spreading defamatory content online.
“My team will be taking strict legal action against those spreading false and defamatory content,” he wrote.
The couple was scheduled to get married in Smriti’s hometown, Sangli, on November 24. Several teammates from the Indian women’s cricket team attended the pre-wedding festivities, and images from the celebrations had gone viral just days earlier.
However, on the morning of the wedding, Smriti’s management announced that the ceremony had been postponed indefinitely due to her father’s sudden hospitalisation. Palash and his family returned to Mumbai the same day, where he was later admitted to a hospital as well.
Both families have requested privacy as they navigate this emotionally difficult period.
