Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat Upgraded to 16 Coaches From Nov 24; Capacity Doubles to 1,200 Passengers
The Indian Railways has announced a major upgrade for the Indore–Nagpur–Indore Vande Bharat Express in response to rapidly increasing passenger demand. Starting November 24, the train—currently running with 8 coaches—will be expanded to a 16-coach configuration, doubling its seating capacity from 600 to approximately 1,200 passengers.
Railway officials say the enhancement will ease the pressure on one of Central India’s busiest corridors, particularly during festivals, holidays, and peak travel periods.
High-Demand Route Gets Major Boost
The Indore–Bhopal–Nagpur stretch is a crucial route in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, heavily used by students, professionals, business travelers, and tourists. Due to this high demand, Vande Bharat tickets were often fully booked, with long waiting lists throughout the year.
Indore and Bhopal both serve as major educational and commercial centres, while Nagpur is a key industrial and logistics hub. This permanent increase to 16 coaches is expected to significantly improve connectivity and relieve passenger congestion.
