The Indian stock market will observe 11 closed days in October 2025, including weekends and three official trading holidays linked to national and festive occasions. The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) and currency derivatives segments will also remain shut on these days.

Official Stock Market Holidays in October 2025:

  • October 2: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti / Dussehra
  • October 21: Diwali Laxmi Pujan
  • October 22: Diwali Balipratipada

Muhurat Trading 2025:

Both NSE and BSE have announced that the Muhurat Trading session will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, between 1:45 pm and 2:45 pm.
This symbolic one-hour trading session, coinciding with Diwali Laxmi Pujan, marks the beginning of Samvat 2082 in the Hindu calendar. Traditionally, it is considered an auspicious period for investments and wealth creation.

In 2024, Muhurat trading was held in the evening between 6 pm and 7 pm, but this year’s schedule has been shifted to an afternoon slot.

  • December 25: Christmas
