Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Hospitalised in Bengaluru for Medical Check-up
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday after complaining of fever and leg pain.
Party sources clarified that the hospitalisation was a precautionary measure given Kharge’s age (83) and assured that his condition is stable. “He is fine, nothing to worry. Doctors are monitoring,” a senior Congress leader told PTI.
Doctors have kept him under close observation, but his condition is not critical. A formal statement from Kharge’s office and a medical bulletin from the hospital are expected soon.
This comes nearly a year after Kharge had briefly suffered dizziness during a rally in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district, where he had later reassured supporters with his trademark humour, saying he would “not die anytime soon, at least not before defeating PM Narendra Modi.”
