Bengaluru: Several parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, are experiencing cold wave-like conditions after night temperatures dipped significantly below normal levels. Weather data issued on Monday shows a pronounced drop across northern and interior regions of the state.
Bidar Records Lowest Temperature at 9.5°C
Bidar reported the state’s lowest minimum temperature of 9.5°C, while other districts in North Interior Karnataka such as Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Vijayapura, and Raichur also recorded unusually low temperatures between 7°C and 9°C.
Meteorologists observed:
- A fall of over 4°C at isolated northern locations
- A 2–4°C dip in coastal and northern areas
- Minimal temperature change across South Interior Karnataka
A KSNDMC report noted that 72% of Karnataka experienced minimum temperatures between 12°C and 18°C, indicating widespread cooling.

Light rainfall is expected in:
- Dakshina Kannada
- Udupi
- Kodagu
- Mysuru
- Chamarajanagar
- Mandya
- Ramanagara
Dry weather will prevail in Uttara Kannada and most northern districts.
In Bengaluru, mornings will be misty with partly cloudy skies. The next 48 hours will likely see:
- Max temperature: 27–28°C
- Min temperature: ~17°C
Rainfall Deficit Across Karnataka
Between November 1 and 17:
- 26 districts reported “large deficit” rainfall
- 3 districts recorded a “deficit”
- Only Kalaburagi (excess) and Yadgir (large excess) deviated from the state-wide dry pattern
The deficit could affect agriculture, water availability, and winter crop planning.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautions against cold wave conditions, warning of risks such as:
