A 34-year-old man died by suicide after jumping from the third floor of GT Mall in Bengaluru on Monday morning, police said.
The deceased, identified as Sagar, was an engineering dropout, unmarried, and currently unemployed. According to police officials, he was reportedly undergoing treatment for psychological issues.
The incident shocked onlookers and mall staff, prompting an immediate response from local authorities. Police have initiated an inquest and are verifying CCTV footage to ascertain the exact sequence of events. Sagar’s family members confirmed that he had been struggling with mental health challenges in recent months.
Another Tragic Case in Bengaluru
In a separate incident, a 19-year-old college student, identified as Sana Parveen, allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Bagalur, Northeast Bengaluru, on Friday.
According to Deccan Herald, Sana, a second-year BBA student, was living with three friends in Bidarahalli. She reportedly took the extreme step after enduring continuous harassment from a senior, identified as Refaas, a native of Thrissur, Kerala.
Her father, a civil contractor from Madikeri, claimed that his daughter had complained to her college faculty about Refaas’s harassment. Although the college administration had warned the accused, he allegedly continued to harass and blackmail her.
The Bagalur Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused, who is currently absconding. A manhunt is underway.
