Purple Line Disrupted After Man Dies by Suicide at Kengeri Metro Station

Bengaluru witnessed a tragic incident on Friday morning after a 38-year-old man died by suicide by jumping in front of an oncoming metro train at Kengeri metro station. The deceased has been identified as Shantagoud Police Patil, a native of Vijayapura district.

According to initial investigations, police are still trying to determine the man’s background, including his employment status and the reason behind the extreme step. Authorities are analysing CCTV footage to understand the sequence of events.

Kengeri police were alerted immediately and rushed to the spot. A case of unnatural death will be registered, and further inquiry is underway, officials confirmed.


Purple Line Services Temporarily Suspended

Following the incident, Namma Metro temporarily suspended Purple Line services from Mysuru Road to Challaghatta between 8:30 AM and 9:40 AM. Trains operated only up to Mysuru Road station during this period.

BMRCL later announced that services were fully restored after the body was removed from the tracks.

The deceased’s body has been moved to the mortuary, and police are attempting to contact his family using the address listed on his Aadhaar card.
