Ayodhya : The holy city of Ayodhya came alive on the eve of Diwali 2025, as lakhs of earthen lamps (diyas) and a spectacular display of fireworks illuminated the night sky over the Saryu Ghats. The celebrations marked the beginning of Deepotsav 2025, a grand annual event that has become synonymous with Ayodhya’s spiritual heritage.
🌟 A record-breaking Deepotsav
This year, the Uttar Pradesh government has set a target to light 26,11,101 diyas across 56 ghats of the Saryu River, surpassing previous records and aiming for another entry in the Guinness World Records. The massive effort involves over 10,000 volunteers from local colleges and universities working in coordination to light each lamp in a precise pattern verified by QR code scanning.
🎆 Fireworks and laser show captivate visitors
The night sky sparkled as fireworks lit up Ayodhya, while a laser and light show at Ram Ki Paidi narrated the epic story of Lord Rama’s return from exile. The vibrant illumination and cultural performances — including a traditional Ram Leela — drew thousands of devotees and tourists from across India and abroad.
Visitors expressed awe at the grandeur. “Bahut acha nazara hai… bahut anand aa raha hai,” said one devotee. Another pilgrim from Patna praised the arrangements: “There are excellent facilities for devotees this year; everything is well managed.”
🪔 Symbol of faith and unity
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deepotsav has become a global showcase of Ayodhya’s faith, devotion, and cultural pride. The festival celebrates Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
As part of the festivities, Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified security and crowd-management efforts to ensure safety during the record-setting event.
✨ Diwali spirit across the city
Homes, temples, and streets across Ayodhya are decorated with rangolis, flowers, and diyas, while the Saryu Ghats shimmer in golden light — creating a breathtaking visual spectacle. With fireworks, laser shows, and devotional chants filling the air, Ayodhya’s Deepotsav 2025 once again reaffirms its place as the spiritual heart of Diwali celebrations.
