Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday delivered a fiery address at a rally in Darbhanga, Bihar, targeting the opposition INDIA bloc and accusing its leaders of promoting dynastic politics.
Shah alleged that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav wants his son Tejashwi Yadav to become Bihar’s Chief Minister, while Congress leader Sonia Gandhi dreams of making her son Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.
“The BJP has given opportunities to many young candidates for the Bihar polls. But Lalu ji wants to make his son CM, and Sonia ji wants her son PM. I want to tell them both — these posts are not vacant,” Shah declared to loud cheers from the crowd.
⚡ ‘Mahagathbandhan Is a Thug Bandhan’
Launching a sharp attack on the opposition alliance, Shah termed the RJD-Congress coalition as a “Thug Bandhan”, or an alliance of corrupt leaders. He accused them of multiple scams, from the fodder scam and land-for-jobs case to the bitumen scam, and alleged that the Congress was involved in corruption worth ₹12 lakh crore.
“For them, power is a means to fill family coffers. For us, it’s about serving the poor,” he said.
🔒 ‘PFI Members Will Stay in Jail Under NDA’
Shah highlighted the Centre’s firm action against the Popular Front of India (PFI), a banned radical organisation. Referring to previous arrests in Patna’s Phulwari Sharif, he said,
“Do you think PFI members will remain in jail if the RJD-Congress alliance comes to power? The NDA will never allow anti-national elements to be free.”
🏗️ NDA’s Development Vision for Bihar
Listing out the NDA government’s welfare measures, Shah said over 8.52 crore residents in Bihar receive free ration, while 125 units of free power are provided to domestic users. He also spoke about the formation of a Makhana Board to promote local produce and improve livelihoods.
“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Bihar is progressing on the path of growth and prosperity,” he asserted.
🚆 Major Announcements for Darbhanga
Amit Shah announced a series of major infrastructure projects for Darbhanga, including:
- A Metro Rail project for the city,
- A new AIIMS hospital to strengthen healthcare, and
- An already operational airport to boost regional connectivity.
He also revealed plans to build a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita in Mithila, with all related pilgrimage sites to be connected through the Ram Circuit to encourage spiritual tourism.
📚 Preserving Mithila’s Heritage
Highlighting efforts to protect Maithili culture, Shah said the NDA government had granted official language status to Maithili and even translated the Constitution into the language. A ₹500-crore centre is being set up in Mithila to conserve ancient manuscripts and texts.
“This is our tribute to Mithila’s glorious culture and knowledge tradition,” he added.
🇮🇳 ‘No Place for Dynasty Politics in New India’
Concluding his speech, Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s message against dynasty-based politics. His remarks in Darbhanga served as a strong pitch for the NDA’s governance model focused on development, cultural pride, and clean politics, setting the tone ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
