Frequent highway travelers in India will see a slight increase in travel costs from April 1, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised the FASTag annual pass fee for the financial year 2026–27.
The annual pass will now cost ₹3,075, up by ₹75 from the previous ₹3,000. This revision is part of NHAI’s routine toll rationalisation under the National Highways Fee rules.
What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?
Introduced in August 2025, the FASTag annual pass is designed for private, non-commercial vehicles. It allows seamless travel across toll plazas on national highways and expressways without repeated deductions for each trip.
The pass is valid for either one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
Growing Popularity Among Users
Since its launch, the annual pass has gained strong traction among regular commuters. Over 56 lakh users have already opted for the facility, highlighting its convenience for frequent inter-city travel.
Where the Pass Applies
The FASTag annual pass is applicable only on toll plazas located on national highways and national expressways.
For roads operated by state governments or local authorities, the pass does not apply. In such cases, FASTag will continue to function in the standard pay-per-use mode, and toll charges will be deducted separately.
How to Purchase and Activate
Users can purchase the annual pass through the Rajmargyatra mobile app or via the official NHAI portal. Once payment is completed, activation typically takes place within a couple of hours.
Important Conditions
- The pass is linked to a specific vehicle and cannot be transferred
- It is valid only when the FASTag is properly installed on the vehicle’s windshield
- Renewal is required after one year or once 200 trips are exhausted
