The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has entered its final stage, with India set to take on New Zealand in the title clash on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Along with the prestige of lifting the trophy, both teams are also competing for the largest share of the tournament’s record prize pool.

Record prize pool announced

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed a total prize pool of $13.5 million (over ₹120 crore) for the 2026 edition. This marks an increase of nearly 20 percent compared with the 2024 tournament, highlighting the growing commercial success of T20 cricket.

The tournament, hosted across India and Sri Lanka, has benefited from strong global broadcasting deals and sponsorships, contributing to the higher prize distribution.

Winner and runner-up payouts

The team that wins the T20 World Cup 2026 will receive $3 million (around ₹27.48 crore) in prize money. Meanwhile, the runner-up will earn $1.6 million (approximately ₹14.65 crore).

While both finalists are assured of a substantial financial reward, the champions will secure the larger payout along with the title of world champions.

Rewards for semi-finalists and Super 8 teams

Teams that reached the later stages of the competition will also receive significant prize money.

  • Losing semi-finalists: $790,000 (about ₹7.24 crore) each
  • Super 8 teams: $380,000 (around ₹3.48 crore) each

The prize distribution reflects the ICC’s aim to reward consistent performances throughout the tournament.

Prize money for all participating teams

A total of 20 teams competed in the 2026 tournament, and even sides eliminated in the group stage will receive $250,000 (around ₹2.29 crore). This ensures that every participating nation earns financial compensation for taking part in the global event.

A new financial benchmark for T20 cricket

The 2026 edition has set a new benchmark for prize money in T20 World Cup history, underlining the growing popularity and commercial value of the format.

All eyes are now on Ahmedabad, where India and New Zealand will battle for the trophy and the biggest share of the tournament’s historic prize fund.
