With excitement building for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, Indian Railways has announced a special train service from New Delhi to Ahmedabad to help cricket fans travel conveniently to the much-anticipated match between India and New Zealand.
The final will take place on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, one of the largest cricket venues in the world.
Special train for cricket fans
The Northern Railway confirmed that the special train will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 PM on March 7, heading toward Sabarmati in Ahmedabad. The move was made after reports of surging flight prices and limited seat availability for the final weekend.
Railway officials urged fans to book their tickets quickly, as the train is expected to see heavy demand.
The 19-coach train will include AC 2-tier and AC 3-tier compartments, providing a comfortable travel option for supporters eager to witness the high-stakes final in person.
Additional trains from Mumbai
Earlier, Western Railway had also announced a special train running from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, ensuring that fans from multiple major cities can attend the match without travel difficulties.
Massive crowd expected in Ahmedabad
The Narendra Modi Stadium, which can accommodate around 132,000 spectators, is expected to be completely filled for the grand finale.
India secured its place in the final after defeating England by seven runs, while New Zealand reached the title clash with a dominant win over South Africa in the semi-final.
Star-studded closing ceremony planned
Before the match begins, fans will witness a grand closing ceremony at the stadium.
The event will feature performances by Puerto Rican Grammy-winning singer Ricky Martin, popular Indian folk performer Phalguni Pathak, and Bollywood playback singer Sukhwinder Singh.
The audience is expected to enjoy a musical celebration before the toss, including performances of Martin’s famous hit “Un Dos Tres (Maria)”.
Another historic final in Ahmedabad
This will mark India’s second World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in recent years. The venue previously hosted the 2023 ODI World Cup final, where Australia defeated India.
This time, Indian fans will hope for a different result as the team takes on New Zealand in one of the most anticipated cricket matches of the year.
